I'm heading up to state college for Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.
I'm supposed to profile some common worker for Voices one of those days (or maybe later, sometime in August, I don't know yet) but otherwise I'll probably be sitting around playing videogames with Ben during the days.
I'm working at Sheetz (a convinience store for the UK members of the audience) where my job is essentially the same as it was at McLanahans except I get paid another 2$ an hour. Sometimes I work register, which I never did at McLanahans, but I did at Rutter's (another convinience store, this time for everyone who doesn't live near York). I work third shift now, and on weekends, we deal with the local drunks. I dealt with them occasionally at McLanahan's, but never too many.
We get a lot at Sheetz. I find them amusing, but the rest of the staff thinks of them as assholes. They're probably right, but I'm friends with Ben, so...
Last night, a guy came in and was illiteratly drunk. I've never seen that before. He sucessfully ordered a turkey melt, then asked what he had ordered, handing me the claim ticket and letting me know that all he saw was a blur. This morning, a kid who went to my High School (though a year or two behind) came in with a spray of blood on his face. He hit some other kid and got himself thrown out of a bar. His oddly sober friend came into the store about an hour later looking for him.
The drunks tend to come for the food. And the food is good. The place is the cleanest place I've ever worked, and the food is the best. We bake our own bread every day and keep stuff in code religiously (the other two delis, not so much). The biggest problem is that everything is pretty expensive, but I get half off so it's worth it to me.
